Siberian or Alaskan husky?
I rescued a (what I believed to be…) Siberian Husky last weekend and was recently told there is no way she is pure because of her black eyes. Its almost as if my dog is wearing very thick eye liner around her blue eyes. I was told that she is an alaskan husky, that supposedly a Siberian Husky does not have the black liner around the eyes. Is this correct?
Are there any other sure signs I can look for to differentiate the Alaskan from the Siberian husky?
There's only Siberian huskies, and Alaskan malamutes. (that's the proper name), and people say they are very much the same, but they actually look reasonably different from each other. Alaskans' tend to be much fluffier, stouter, and taller. However, it still could be a Siberian…could you upload a pic? Or send a link to what it looks like,at least? I could answer you right away if you do.

the above answerer is correct, BUT only the Siberian huskey has blue eyes or one of each….. Malamutes have brown eyes. Why don't you google the breeds and check out some pictures.

Alaskan Huskies are Mutts. They are a siberian husky bred with other fast breeds to create a fast race team or sled team. They are considered a "catagory" of a dog not a breed.
The "Eye Liner" effect is perfectly normal on a Siberian Husky and you can go tell whom ever told you your dog isn't purebred to kiss your butt.
Post another question with a link to a picture and ask if it is a purebred. You'll get your answer!

She is a purebred siberian husky. Although she is not up to standard from bad breeding, she is purebred and has the eyeliner effect!
