Should I buy this field for my dogs?

I have 4 Siberian Huskies and 2 Alaskan Malamutes and right now they are living in my backyard (yes they are outside dogs) but soon I want to move them into a field that is up for sale(except for one that is nursing a litter of puppies). The field is half an acre with a 7 foot chain link fence going around the entire area. It's about a 10 minute or so drive from my house, there are no houses around that area so I really don't have to worry about annoying any neighbors with the dogs barking and howling.I have gone and inspected the field and everything is good to go. I'll still go and check on them a few times every day and keep them up to date on their shots and heartworm preventative. Does it sound like a good idea?
I am not a breeder and the reason I want to move them to field is because my yard is waayyyy to small and plus the neighbors are constanly complaining about the dogs barking.

I could never live with my dogs out of my sight. You have no idea who might climb in there and steal, free, or poison your dogs. A dog could get hung on the fence trying to escape, and be dead by the time you showed up. What if there was a dog fight, and somebody got trashed because you weren't there to stop it?

Dogs aren't livestock that can be "pastured". This sounds like an incredibly bad idea.

If space and neighbors are a problem, you have two options: Move to a bigger place, or find homes for some of your dogs.

NO! Dogs need so much more love and care than just being left in an isolated field all day everyday. What are you thinking?

Sounds to me like you're a breeder and you don't want dogs as pets. I'm not really sure you should have them. I certainly don't think you should have them in a field with no one around.

Why bother having dogs at all if you're going to keep them in a field a couple miles away? I'm sure the dogs would be happier in your yard, where they can get more attention and you can supervise them.

i don't want to sound rude or anything..but i personally don't think that is a great idea. that is pretty much like abandoning your dogs!! if you owned a house on that property it would be a great idea..but leaving them in a field 10 minutes away is insane!! if i lived near there i would call the humaine society on you!!!

AND if you know about huskies you would know they are good escape artists.

edit: if you're not a breeder then why do you have puppies?? get your dogs spayed and neutered for their own good!!

You dogs are loud because they are bored- exercise them more. sell some of them!! maybe keep 2- then they won't be as loud and easier to handle and more space in your yard!?!?!

Are you sure they'll get enough socialisation and stimulation?
I'd be worried about intelligent dogs living without much work to do. How much will be involved in checking on them?

What's the security like there? They're attractive dog breeds, could they be stolen?

Sounds fine…as long as they still get loved and cared for

I would NEVER leave my dogs unattended in a field. So, no, it's NOT a good idea. Have you not thought about the possibility that someone could possibly steal them?

How are you going to have any clue what is going on with your dogs if you move them miles away from where you live, and leave them there with no supervision?

I think its a terrible idea.

I could see buying the field, and taking them there to run, but leaving them there, no.

Even if your dogs are outside dogs they still need to as close as possible to their owner.

When I moved and was living with my in-laws years ago, we made a fenced yard for my dogs about 20 metres from the house. There was no way that my b1tch, Gypsy, was going to stay in that yard. We ended up making a fenced area (albeit smaller) adjacent to the house and she was perfectly happy to stay in there. She still felt connected to us.

If any of your dogs have any sort of separation anxiety, even very very mild, they will spend most of their time trying to escape from the field to get back to you.

Another example, my Kelpe would never attempt to escape from the backyard until we went away for a few days (with neighbours looking after him). When that happened he would invariably dig out of the yard.

Edit: You could always buy the field and use it as an exercise area - take your dogs there 2 - 3 times a day for a good run and a play. This might help reduce their nuisance barking. You could always camp in the field on the weekends so that the dogs can have a really good romp. You could even put a small caravan on there for instant accomodation, or build a small "flat".

Sounds like a foolish idea to me.

if your dogs aren't gonna be part of the family and LIVE WITH the family
why the hell do you have them?

OK, this is another in a list of questions, that makes me very concerned for your dogs. You do not have the knowledge to care properl;y for them, and here you are also admitting you do not have a safe appropriate place for them to live. You have had one unwanted litter of pups, and you were not even aware your dog was pregnant, and your dogs are not fixed or trained (re your own questions about pack misbehavior).
Please consider trying to find permanent appropriate homes for your dogs. Or find a knowledgeable dog owner to act as your mentor, and help teach you about responsible dog ownership.

As for is it OK to take your dogs to a fenced in field and leave them there, NO.
They need to be socialized, and receive daily training and interaction, and being since they are not fixed they need to be separately restrained and watched for when dogs go into heat. They are all working dogs who do not do well without regular physical and mental exercise, and leaving them all free running around does not qualify as either. And being since I have no idea of you are aware of this, outside dogs need to always have access to shelter, like a nice dog house with straw in it.

You have not found a good solution for the problems you are having with your dogs. And if there is no one around, who is going to be there if there is an emergency situation with your dogs? Do your really think it is OK to go leave them somewhere just to make your life easier?

You are not a breeder but you have a litter of puppies?

That doesn't make sense.

I can't believe you have 6 of these northern breed dogs and you have to ask this question.

If you don't rescue and you don't race, there is no need for you to have that many of these breeds. These dogs need to be inside with humans unless they are working.

As for the field, absolutely not. Not only can siberians climb chain link, they can dig under it too. Unless you plan on hiring a security guard to watch these dogs 24/7 I'd so no.

I'm sorry for being rude, but what you're saying is extremely odd and not well thought out. Are you a hoarder?
