Eagle Pack Super Premium Dog Food??!?
We have a 7 week old siberian husky (her mom died at 4 weeks) we have been feeding her Natures Recipe up until now its a really good dog food but we want something with less fillers. We went to fleet-farm and they had Eagle Pack dog food on sale we have been wanting to try it but at petsmart its $50 a bag and we got it on sale for $30 at fleet-farm. Just want to check if anyone else feeds their dog/puppy this? We bought the sm/md puppy formula. Thanks!
What about Canidae All Stages dog food? Has anyone fed their dog that? Thats the other kind of food we are thinking of feeding her. Thanks!
NO that stuff is crap!!! TONS of fillers!!!! Try something from Natura Pet. They are all great! http://www.naturapet.com
Canidae is great too!

It's not a great food. You'd do better to go with their Holistic line. Their regular food is low quality, but Eagle Pack Holistic Select is good.
Edit: Canidae All Life Stages is a good quality food.

i have to say, i am a husky fan. it is better to give him homemade foods like rice and boiled meat. but if she is a puppy, it would be even better to feed milk and ground meat, boiled

I don't like getting dog food that has any grain product at all, especially corn, it upsets my dogs belly something fierce. Price shouldn't really matter if the quality of food is what meets your dogs needs. Heres a site that has the top 10 Dog foods for your viewing pleasure if you want!

Eagle Pack does a tremendous amount of work and research with mushers. So if there is any one group of dogs that Eagle Pack should be right for it would be the northern breeds.

Just one? (I reported them on their Yahoo mail abuse form, figured 16 copies of the same notification was enough)

"Wolves would NOT eat plant matter in the wild"
That is not true!! I have personally filmed wolves eating plant material at Yellowstone National Park. You should go there someday and just watch. You would be surprised by what can be learned by doing so.

Never feed a dog cooked food (to the previous answer). It takes away much of the nutritional value of meat, and dogs just aren't anatomically designed to digest grains or veggies. Wolves would NOT eat plant matter in the wild, and dogs only have a 0.02% genetic difference from wolves.
Kibble is also not good for dogs, even premium kibble. Again, dogs are not designed to digest the cooked foods. Their stomachs view it as an unwanted foreign material, and the liver kicks into over time to process the cooked food. This can lead to early, severe liver damage.
Look at feeding a RAW diet. I always recomend the Prey Model Raw Diet. It does just as the name implies, it models the prey your dog would be eating in the wild. 20% organ meat, and 80% meaty bones. There is also the BARF diet that supplements with vegies and grains like rice, but again, anatomically dogs are not designed to digest grains and vegetables. They get all the plant nutrients they need from the actual meat and organs of their prey animal.
It is also cheaper then feeding a premium diet. We use to feed Blue Buffalo, which is one of the highest qualitie foods petsmart sells. We were spending 45$ on a 30lb bag that was gone in two weeks. Now, we spend roughly 0.40-0.80$ a lb on food, and the boys only eat 3-4 pounds combined a day. So we now spend around 40$ a month instead of twice a month.
